What Do You Value?
In my American Literature class we're on the topic "American Values". I am assigned to do a collage of all of America's values and present it to the class. However I'm having trouble because I don't think America values many things. What we value isn't the best either. I don't mean to put the American government down but there isn't anything I can really support. Well, I can support that we are able to live without slavery but I don't think that we really are "free" and have the "freedom of speech" or the "right to bear arms" or even "freedom of religion" I can't stand our government and I can't stand the United States of America. The government is bias, racist, sexist, and very homophobic. I still, of course, have to read into the government's employees more but I really doubt that there are many gays/bis/lesbians/transexuals in the high positions. We're still celebrating firsts and seconds and thirds of African American heads of state and other government positions because we are hardly being able to accept the african american community as part of our government. In my belief, it is wrong that we are so bias because of religion (which is no doubt the reason for our decisions either indirectly or directly) that we are supposed to not have mix in with our government.
