Okay! Here we go. I'm trying to learn how to speak & write vietnamese but it's really hard when there isn't anybody for me to talk to around my neighborhood to practice and learn from. So I'm hoping that I can learn it here. Yes, I've bought books and CDs to learn but those aren't helpful. They either teach me only how to say words or they just show me how to write. I haven't learned at grammar structure or how to put sentences together unless that's already in the book or recording. If you have a lesson you'd like to contribute that would be great. Thank you if you post it.

I love being organized so I'll be listing links to the lesson posts on this first post for easy access. If anybody sees an error in a lesson or spelling please correct me because I'm getting this information from another site. You learn from your mistakes!

ay jay jay, Vietnamese is huge. I don't know where should i start, so suggest what you want to learn then i can teach you actually; also i'm still learning English yeah I am international student and have some advantages in education's program and disadvantages in English subject!!!

It's okay! Even native english speakers have trouble understanding. It's because everybody here is so lazy that they don't care to learn the language structure. They don't even use correct words in their sentences. Theres slang but then there's just being lazy. I don't like it when people slur their words together.

Hmm... For Vietnamese we could post lessons like they have in books. Where they title it where you could use those sentences. Then have the translations.

Vocabulary lists are good too. And if someone has a mic where they could record them saying the words that would be awesome.

The very first of a book always be "content" page right.

Content means mục lục. sentence is "you should read the content page before you start reading this book" (Vietnamese version: Bạn nên đọc trang mục lục trước khi bạn bắt đầu đọc cuốn sách này.)

So we have here:

should: nên
read: đọc
page: trang, tờ giấy
content: mục lục
before: trước khi, trước đây, trước
start: bắt đầu, khởi hành
book: cuốn sách, vở, tiểu thuyết
this: đây, này

OK this is our first lesson just a short one for you. Try to remember all these words and i have to go to sleep now!!!

you know learning to speak is easier... after that you should take writing and reading lessons ^^

You need people who ảlready know vietnamese.
But learning the south vietnamese dialect is the easiest ^^
